With an eclectic and varied music industry background spanning over two decades, Ali B has a broad sense of musical appreciation, coupled with an intuitive feel for the dance-floor which has seen him hold down DJ residencies at some of London’s most influential venues. After making his mark at the legendary Blue Note club in the mid nineties, he went on to become the resident DJ for Fabric for over a decade, releasing one of the first albums in their mix CD series. He spent several years hosting Saturday nights at West London’s ‘Paradise’ where his legendary 5 hour sets seamlessly took in everything from blues and funk to rock, soul, dub, disco and beyond, captured on his ever popular series of ‘Oh Shit!’ mix tapes. When he’s not touring internationally, Ali B is a regular fixture at London’s Blues Kitchen and the ever popular Bussey Building.
Ali B has released a variety of tracks, remixes and mix albums and as an artist extensively toured the world. His latest projects include ‘The Music Saves Me’ with the Jungle Brother’s Afrika Baby Bam, featured on a recent compilation from Fabric and ‘Swing It’ featuring South African vocalist Afika, both released on the UK Bombstrikes label. ‘Gimme That’ his second collaboration with US hip hop legends Jungle Brothers. Released in May 2016 on A-Skillz’ Jam City label, the track was immediately play-listed by the BBC. ‘Ali B Plays The Blues’, the world’s first ‘beat-mixed’ classic blues compilation, was highly praised by The Guardian upon its release in January 2016.
Ali B spent his teens working for the Acid Jazz record label followed by several years in Public Relations, representing the likes of Gilles Peterson, Norman Jay, Adam Freeland and Pete Tong. He went on to host a weekly radio show on Capital FM for five years followed by five years on Kiss FM, alongside presenting numerous shows for BBC 6 Music.
When Ali B’s Air parties started in the mid nineties, they were instrumental in pioneering the worldwide breaks scene, running at venues across London, including The Blue Note, 333, Mass, Electrowerkz, Rhythm Factory, Cargo and Matter as well as hosting arenas at festivals such as Glastonbury, Global Gathering, Hi-Fi and Australia’s Future Music Festival.
Ali B is widely regarded as the DJs DJ, as comfortable at the controls of clubs such as Fabric playing a heady mix of cutting edge bass and beats as he is digging for 45’s to play one of his exclusive party sets. Over the last few years he has been spending increasing amounts of time abroad, often basing himself for months at a time in places such as Canada, US, Africa and Australia in order to soak up new sounds and scenes. Ali B is often the go-to DJ for high profile events including London’s Summer Olympics, Abbey Road Studios with Mark Ronson, Mick Hucknall’s 50’th birthday party and Gary Barlow’s wedding anniversary. He has even DJ’d on the set of US sitcom ‘Friends’. Ali B is happiest travelling the world and seeking out intrepid party locations such as Afrikaburn in the Karoo desert, Burning Man in the US or Lake Of Stars in Malawi, catch him while you can…

The Head Gardener
La Fee Verte | Friday | 02:00 AM - 04:00 AM
A major presence on the UK festival circuit for 15 years, the Secret Garden Party’s founder and impresario, The Head Gardener aka Freddie Fellowes, has always sought to push boundaries. In fact, he prefers to call his event a party rather than a festival to highlight his belief that each and every person who performs or attends is a participant not a spectator. The Secret Garden Party is, to date, the largest fully independent outdoor event in the UK that also remained unsponsored and unbranded throughout. 2017 saw the SGPs final blow-out party and despite rumours to the contrary; new formats not repeats are ahead.
From a broader perspective Fred is not afraid to deal with issues; issues that affect not only live events but all of us. He has shown long-term support for the charity CALM, which offers help to men and women in crisis. He has also openly addressed the issue of sexual assault at festivals, calling for a commitment to work together to minimise risk. He has also raised the issue of responsible reporting on this topic.
Last summer he pioneered drug testing in the UK by inviting LOOP and Transform to Secret Garden Party, where attendees could have illegal drugs tested for content.
This gained national and international publicity and almost universal support from the media.
Freddie is currently lobbying the UK government to end the hypocrisy surrounding the laws on controlled substances and their uses.

‘Best known for his uplifting melodies and swanky grooves, Tommy Gun has always leaned towards the lighter side of dance music as a DJ. Schooled in the classics yet with a modern sensibility, Tommy Gun strikes a rare balance between feeding the proverbial beast on the dancefloor and presenting it with something new.
Tommy Gun honed his craft over a ten-year period as resident DJ and promoter of the pioneering ‘Untamed Youth’ club night in Cape Town. With left field institution Fiction as its home base, Untamed Youth introduced local crowds to a new wave of indie/electronic and disco sounds and proved to be a strong platform for up-and-coming DJ’s and performers alike.
Inspired to reach out to diverse audiences, Tommy Gun has played at major clubs and festivals across South Africa as well as internationally in London, Copenhagen and Istanbul. He has also featured alongside respected international artists such as Classixx, Marcus Marr, Para One, The 2 Bears and Jacques Renault.”
